According to the results of 2018, the city of Minsk occupies leading positions in the Republic: the gross regional product of Minsk is 27,7 % of the republican, the export of goods is 37,3 %, the export of services is 60,1 %, foreign direct investment on a net basis is 54,7 %. In all areas of the economy more than 1 million people are employed.

Socio-economic development of Minsk is based on the priorities outlined in the Program of Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Belarus for 2016-2020: "Investments", "Employment", "Export", "Informatization", "Youth".

The implementation of the identified development priorities is aimed at achieving the indicators of the Socio-Economic Development Program of Minsk for 2016–2020: the gross regional product of the city of Minsk is 112,3-114,6%, the labor productivity of the gross regional product is 109,3-110,9%, the index of industrial production - 111,5-113,0%, foreign direct investment on a net basis - 151,2%, export of goods - 118,4-119,4%, export of services - 132,4-133,6%.
